NAFAS JUDGES are qualified at Area and National level. Qualification Tests for Area Judges are held regularly within the Area. NAFAS Judges undergo rigorous training in order to qualify and make unbiased decisions before allocating awards.
They are available to judge at Flower Club Competitions and Area Flower Shows, whatever the size or location, and are happy to give constructive comments on matters relating to competitive work.
National Judge
Mrs Margaret Rumens
A love of judging arose out of a love of teaching and has now taken Margaret far afield. She is a National Judge, Instructor, Adjudicator and Assessor and has judged at WAFA UK in Glasgow, WAFA Barbados and various NAFAS National and Area Shows. Margaret had 16 years on the RHS Flower Arrangement Judging Committee judging at Chelsea Flower Show, Hampton Court, Tatton Park, Cardiff and the London Shows.
As a National Judge, Margaret was Competitions Officer for the NAFAS National Show in Cardiff in 2000 and subsequently enjoyed long service as a Staging Officer and then Chairman of the National Show Committee.
Margaret was Chair of NAFAS National Judging Committee from 2017 – 2020 and also Arbitrator for the Festive Food and Flower Show in Blackpool. She was also judge for the NAFAS Designer of the Year.

Mrs Sionedd Hughes
As a keen competitor, Sionedd understands that competition is not only about achieving an award but it is an incredibly sociable experience. It also presents a personal challenge to strech oneself. There are so many benefits to competing as as a result Sionedd is keen to encourage everyone to participate in all levels of competition.
Area Judges
Ms Sharon Badger
Ms Sharon Badger passed the judges test in 2011. Sharon has judged at club competitions, local shows and the Shrewsbury Flower Show. Sharon has completed the NAFAS Diploma in Contemporary Floral Design OCN, and qualified as a City & Guilds Teacher in 2004. Sharon has taught Floral Design and Leisure Courses as an Adult Learning Tutor for Leicester City Council.
Shirley Henderson
Shirley is an Area Demonstrator and Area Judge with a varied background and experience in flower arranging. She’s an American who first entered the flower world of arranging and competition while living in South Africa.
Upon returning to the UK in 2006 she trained to become a NAFAS demonstrator and judge.
Ms Linda Seabrook
Linda’s location is in NN11.
Mrs Simone Squire
Simone qualified as a NAFAS Area Judge in 2011. She lives in Northamptonshire and is a member of Bugbrooke & District Flower Society, Centrix and the Floral Education Association. Simone is happy to take bookings at short notice and is prepeared to travel to judge any kind of show.
